Creating safer communities in the Eastern Cape
Still We Rise NPO focuses on addressing the challenges faced by youth, especially the growing crisis of Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Based in the BCM community in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, we create awareness campaigns, community dialogues, educational workshops, and sports and empowerment events that keep young people engaged in positive and productive activities.
Officially established in 2025, our mission is to create safer communities and provide opportunities for young people to grow and succeed. Under dedicated leadership, the organisation continues to provide hope, guidance, and support to many young people who face social and economic challenges.

Yvonne Horner – Founder of Still We Rise NPO
Yvonne Horner is a passionate community leader, mentor, and youth development activist dedicated to fighting Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and empowering young women and men within the BCM community in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
For more than 12 years, Yvonne Horner has worked tirelessly to uplift and support young people through mentorship, skills development, health awareness, and community empowerment programmes. Her passion for helping vulnerable youth inspired her to officially establish the organization “Still We Rise NPO” in 2025, with a mission to create safer communities and provide opportunities for young people to grow and succeed.
Yvonne is widely respected as an award-winning local hero who has positively impacted the lives of many young women and men around BCM. Through her dedication and leadership, she has helped numerous young people gain employment opportunities, access healthcare training programmes, receive mentorship, and participate in life-changing youth empowerment initiatives.
Under Yvonne Horner’s leadership, the organisation continues to provide hope, guidance, and support to many young people who face social and economic challenges. Her vision is to build a future where young women and men are empowered, protected, educated, and given equal opportunities to succeed in life.
Through courage, compassion, and commitment, Yvonne Horner continues to inspire communities and prove that with support and empowerment, young people can rise above challenges and become leaders of tomorrow.
